Stainless steel has a variety of applications nowadays because of its mechanical strength and corrosion resistance. The large-scale machinery made up of stainless steel has an outstanding performance and endurance for manufacturing industries. However, stainless steel scraps accumulate with a lubricant to form sludge during the operation. To reduce the …
Nickel slag is a metallurgical solid waste from nickel refineries, which can be recycled as one of excellent secondary sources due to valuable iron contents. In this work, the approach of recycling nickel slag by aluminum dross was proposed, and the processes of network modification of slags and reduction were successively investigated at 1773 K.
Many restrictions exist, however, on the utilization of steel slag. When steel slag is used internally, in steel plants, the most obvious problem is that of the enrichment of P and S (Drissen et al., 2009).The Bhilai Steel Plant in India was shut down because of its high S and P content (Das et al., 2007).The amounts of free lime and free MgO are important for the …
The management of the slag in this first step is central to the success of the E-Scrap recycling process. The E-Scrap ISASMELT™ furnace has a highly turbulent bath, providing conditions that generate high rates of zinc fuming and allow a wide range of operable slag conditions. ... nickel-, and copper-rich slag in the second stage [6,30]. The ...
Ferro-nickel slag (FNS) is a byproduct of the ferro-nickel from the nickel ore refinement process. Following the preliminary reduction process at temperatures ranging from 700 to 800 °C, FNS is produced when the nickel ores are melted at temperatures between 1500 and 1600 °C in an electric furnace and the byproducts are cooled in water or air.
